How to Restart Your 3D Print After a Power Outage | 3D Printer Manufacturers

3D printing large parts is a time-consuming process, and the last thing you want is a power outage to ruin hours of build time. Fortunately, all EVO 3D Printers have a built in feature allowing you to restart your print seamlessly, even after a power interruption. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll walk you through the process of getting your 3D print back on track without the hassle of splicing G-code or worrying about lost progress. FYI, this process also works for parts that have mistakenly been stopped.

Step 1: Power Outage

Your machine’s been running for hours, or days in some cases, and suddenly there is a power outage.

Step 2: Restarting the EVO

Quickly power your EVO back on. The machine will go through its homing sequence on startup, first homing the Z-axis, followed by the X and Y axes.

Step 3: Resuming Your Print

Press “PRINT” on your EVO’s home screen.

Select the file you were printing. If printed from USB, make sure it’s plugged in. In this example, we’re using the internal drive. Select the name of your print job.

Press “PRINT.”

Step 4: Confirm Restart

The EVO will prompt you to confirm whether you want to restart where you left off. Press “YES.”

Step 5: Let the EVO Work Its Magic

Now, the EVO will analyze the gCode and determine all the necessary parameters, including chamber heat, bed heat, fan speeds, extruder heaters, acceleration values, and more to start the printer exactly where it left off.

Step 6: Monitor the Progress

Wait for the EVO to heat up and resume the print. It will continue from the exact point where it left off.

That’s it! You’ve successfully restarted your 3D print after a power outage, and you can continue with confidence, knowing your print will turn out as expected.
